Americans For Prosperity Names Senator Bill Hagerty a 2026 “Pioneer for Prosperity” Award Recipient

NASHVILLE, TN  From challenging wasteful federal spending to championing policies that encourage innovation and economic growth, U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) has made fiscal responsibility and economic opportunity central to his work in Washington. In recognition of those efforts, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is honoring Hagerty with its 2026 Pioneer for Prosperity Award.

The award recognizes lawmakers who do more than talk about the need for reform. Recipients are recognized for taking legislative action, advancing principled policy solutions, and working to remove government barriers that stand in the way of greater prosperity.

Throughout his time in the U.S. Senate, Hagerty has pursued policies aimed at strengthening economic freedom, encouraging innovation, and protecting taxpayers. His leadership on the GENIUS Act, which earned the support of Americans for Prosperity and became law in 2025, reflects his work to establish a regulatory framework for emerging financial technologies.

Hagerty has also challenged unnecessary federal spending, including offering amendments to eliminate transportation bailouts and redirect federal resources, efforts that earned AFP’s support in congressional key-vote alerts. Together, these actions reflect a legislative record focused on limiting unnecessary government intervention and promoting greater accountability for taxpayer dollars.

AFP-TN State Director Tori Venable issued the following statement:

“Washington has never suffered from a shortage of politicians promising to rein in spending, cut red tape, and get government out of the way. What matters is whether they’re willing to take action when those promises are put to the test.

“Senator Bill Hagerty has demonstrated a willingness to challenge the status quo, question how taxpayer dollars are spent, and champion policies that allow innovation and opportunity to flourish. From confronting unnecessary federal spending to helping move meaningful legislation across the finish line, his work reflects the principles that make Tennessee a leader in economic freedom.”
